Only one thing is needed Psalm 23, Matthew 11:28-30, Luke 10:38-41, John 10:11-15, 14:26-27, 15:26, 16:12-15, 6:33, Colossians 3:15, 1 John 4:4,19, 5:4, Acts 20:28, I Corinthians 7:23 Sometimes we make life much too complicated. We try to follow too many rules and can get bound up in it and get discouraged. But Jesus said that only one thing is needed. One day He was visiting in the home of His friends, Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Martha was rushing around trying to be the perfect hostess and Mary was sitting at Jesus' feet listening to His Words. Martha got upset because she felt that her works were not being appreciated and that Mary was not helping her. Jesus looked at her with eyes of love and said, "Martha, Martha". He called her by name as He knows the names of all His sheep, this Good Shepherd who makes us lie down in green pastures to rest our souls from fret. "Martha, Martha", Jesus said. "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." If you are stressed and fearful today, sit down at Jesus feet and hear what He is saying to your heart: "One thing is needed, and one thing is the better part. When you sit and learn at my feet you will be freed from worrying and fret. Do not be anxious about anything, I have overcome the world." "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." "Let my peace rule. No matter what the enemy is whispering in your ear. Let my peace rule. No matter who is yelling at you on the outside. Let my peace rule." "If you are pulled by earthly things, remember I loved you first. Because I loved you first and put you above all things in Heaven and in earth, I died for you that you might live. No one or nothing has the claim on your life that I do. I have bought you with my blood, you are mine." "Come to me when you are heavy and burdened with care and I will give you rest. Take my yoke, my partnership of love upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and you will find rest to your soul." "Nothing on the earth can bring you rest. All else will sooner or later give you torment. Take the time to sit at my feet and learn of me, that is where you will rest." But my Lord, you cry. Can I come to Heaven and bring you back down? Where are you that I can yield to your Word? I cannot find you, search as I might. Help me see you. "Oh my child, have I not given you the Comforter to live in your heart? One just like me, to love you always and abide with you forever. This is how you seek me now. In your heart, let your Teacher speak to you. For He takes the words of mine and lovingly speaks them to you. This is how you find me. Seek me in your heart. There you sit at my feet, and hear my words." "Come aside with me for a season. Learn of me. Only one thing is needed. Only one thing to choose. I love you my child. Come to me."
