Prayer for Forgiveness According to Psalm 51 Psalm 51 For the director of music. A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba. 1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. 4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge. 5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. 6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place. 7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. 9 Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. 10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. 13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you. 14 Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. 15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. 16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. Dear Father, we lift up Your child to you in Jesus' Name. Father we ask that you forgive them of their sins according to I John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness. We pray according to Psalm 51:1-2 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. We pray that you will have mercy on Your child and wash away all of their iniquity and cleanse them from their sins. Psalm 51:6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place. Father God we pray that you will replace your truth in the inner parts for the lies that satan has told them, and we pray that you will teach them wisdom to resist temptation and to receive forgiveness and joy. We confess according to Psalm 51:7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. We confess that Your child is now whiter than snow and according to Psalm 51:8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. We pray that Your child will begin hear joy and gladness, not sorrow and suffering, and that the places in their life that have been crushed will be healed and their whole body, mind and spirit will rejoice. In Psalm 51:10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, we pray that you will create in them a pure heart, and renew that steadfast spirit they once had. In Psalm 51:11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. We pray that they will remain in your presence and that the Holy Spirit will stay with them. Father God, according to Psalm 51:12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me - restore to Your child the joy of their salvation and grant them a willing spirit to sustain them. We also pray that you will restore their health and their family. Father return them to their ministry of testifying according to Psalm 51:13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you. Open their lips, Lord, so that they can declare your praise once again. Psalm 51:15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. Friend, God is not the author of your confusion, the devil is. Jesus loves you and is more willing to forgive you than you are to forgive yourself. Once you have repented, believe that the Lord is doing all that he has promised you in His Word. You must resist the devil and his lies, when he tells you that you are lost and without hope, remember he is a liar and the father of all liars. He has already destroyed a lot in your life, but Jesus CAN AND WILL restore what has been taken from you. Don't give the enemy any more ground, RESIST him standing firm in the faith. Put on your spiritual armor. Even though you feel weak in the flesh, remember that in your weakness, his strength is made perfect! You are in the PERFECT place for God to move in your life! Remember it doesn't depend on YOUR strength or YOUR ability, just trust in God.
