If a person commits suicide, do they automatically go to hell? Many people say that suicide is the unforgivable sin and you'll go straight to hell. However my Bible tells me that the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. People reason that suicide is self-murder, and since you are dead you can't ask forgiveness for it. However, I believe that God is the righteous Judge, not me, and it's His call. For example, someone may have a chance to ask forgiveness "at the last minute". Or perhaps they are mentally or physically ill and aren't in their "right mind". Or maybe it's an accident and we just think it's suicide. I don't advocate killing yourself. But I do believe the matter is in God's hands, and He's the one to make the judgement call. So your loved one is in God's Hands and God can be trusted to make a righteous judgement. The bottom line is that we are saved by grace through faith not of works lest any man should boast. Suicide is a big problem, especially among teens, and is getting bigger. We need to ask God's wisdom to help resist the demonic spirits that are killing our youths, but also be sensitive to those they leave behind and not make rash judgements. ********************************************************************************* All files c1999 Karleen E.
