Does Using Tobacco Send You to HELL? OT in your opinion does a person battling tobacco go to hell? This is not a loaded question but i have a real problem dealing with it when it comes from the pulpit and while IN Christ as a believer and saved by Grace. I am sure this is hard to answer but I do respect your opinion, not to seem patronizing. ************************************************************************************************** This IS a terrible battle for many! And I admire you for battling it! NO you won't go to hell over tobacco - the deciding factor in salvation is your faith in Jesus: For it is by grace you are saved through faith NOT OF WORKS lest any man should boast. I know some churches preach that you will - but the Bible doesn't support that position. Of course tobacco is bad for your body and it is great to be free from it - but your eternal destiny doesn't hang on that. It might effect your testimony and your effectiveness - including shortening your time on earth. But send you to hell? NAH God's grace is much greater than that!!!!! I do believe in deliverance. Greater is he that is within you than he that is in the world (I John 4:4). Praise be to God who ALWAYS gives us the victory in Christ Jesus!!! (I Corinthians 15:57, 2 Corinthians 2:14) The key to deliverance is seeking God's will and believing in the power of God against any power of the enemy. In Jesus' first sermon, He declared that He came to set the captives free! Luke 4:18-19 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36 My uncle, who is a Methodist minister, had a tobacco problem for many years. He believed in God and asked for deliverance from tobacco, but still struggled with it. He always had kept his cigarettes in his shirt pocket, and would find himself automatically reaching for them. So he put a small New Testament in his pocket to remind him of his commitment to stay tobacco free, to be a point of contact as a reminder to prayer, and to remind him to praise Jesus for His deliverance! And he's been free of tobacco for about 15 years! Glory to God! I John 5:4-5 "for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God." Prayer for you to overcome addiction: Father God we thank you for your child and their intense desire to please you. Give your child strength we pray over their addiction. Loose the chains that bind them and set them free! Heal the damaged brain cells that crave tobacco and give them peace. Still the anxiety and nervousness and fill them with great peace. Heal any damage to their lungs, or any other part of their body In Jesus Name. Spirit of addiction we come against you in Jesus Name. We bind you and rebuke you and cast you out by the blood of Jesus! This child belongs to God and you have no LEGAL right to oppress them and keep them captive. We declare victory over any demonic spirit in Jesus Name! AMEN and AMEN Now, according to God's promise, you have been set free! Ask God to replace the desire for tobacco with a hunger and thirst for His Word. Ask God to replace the thoughts and cravings with GOOD THINGS that will build you up for the kingdom of God.
