How can I break the habit of watching TV? One of my problems is that I can hear God calling me, but I sometimes can't tear myself away from my old habits, like television. I watch so much TV, even when there's nothing on, and I know that I should be spending that time with God. Any advice on how to break this habit?. I want to, but it's very hard. ************************************************************************************************* TV is MEANT to be addictive, like tobacco or alcohol. Not all TV is evil, but a LOT of it is. I guess we've all "wasted time" watching junk we didn't even enjoy, instead of taking a walk, or reading a book, talking to a friend, praying, reading the Word, or just "smelling the roses". What need is TV filling in your life? What kinds of things is TV teaching you that are harming you spiritually? What issues of the heart are you not facing? What pain are you trying to numb by using TV like a drug? How can these needs be better met with spiritual things? Another key thing to think about is: Why do I feel that spending time with my Abba Father is an "ought to" rather than a "want to"? These are questions you need to ask yourself and discuss with your Heavenly Father. He will gently reveal them to you. And you WILL experience a leap in faith and joy as you overcome this stronghold in your life.
