Final step of damnation, or first step of salvation????

The Question:

Why can't I just "tell it like it is" when someone "gets up in my face"?

The Answer:

First of all, this is NOT a battle of the flesh, and our weapons are spiritual weapons. Our weapons have DIVINE power to demolish the strongholds that satan has erected in men's thought systems - arguments and pretensions that set themselves up against the knowledge of God.

I Corinthains 10:3-5 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

The biggest problem that I see in the church is that Christians are not only fighting unbelievers IN THE FLESH but other believers as well! Beloved, this should not be. We are soldiers of a different sort. We'd have to be for peace to be an effective weapon.

We are not to wrestle with people, whether believing or not! We are to wrestle with the invisible rulers of wickedness, the powers "behind the scenes", if you will. Fighting people only wounds them and does not bring about their repentance.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

So the next time, you feel like telling someone "how it is", particularly unbelievers, remember this: not only are you fighting the wrong foe, but you may be the one than encourages them on their final step to damnation. On the other hand, if you walk in peace and love, you could encourage them on their FIRST step to salvation!
