WOW! Good News!

You're hanging out with some friends, listening to some tunes, cracking jokes, having a good old time, or so it seems. But behind the noise and the music is an empty feeling. Why?

What is the restlessness that makes you tap your foot and gaze around for something? What are you looking for?

You thought a car would make you happy, but with taxes, insurance and all, it's almost more trouble than it's worth. You thought a job would give you all the cash you could possibly need. But it's never enough.

"What is wrong with me?" you ask. And a voice inside says, "I'm no good. I'm never gonna be nothin'."

Somebody you know just got hurt in a car wreck. Somebody else decided to "end it all". Is that where you're headed?

You've thought about calling a psychic for help. A friend has told you about a "religious group" you can join that promises power, money, and lots of attention from the opposite sex. Should you go check it out?

One of your family or friends keeps bugging you to "come to church", but that's for old people, right?

Are there any answers for the hurts of your heart? Is there anyone anywhere who really cares about you?

Yes, there is. There is an ancient book full of good things that has the answers you seek. It's called the Bible. In this book, God himself is talking to you. Yes, YOU! You see, you are important to God. He made you and wants you to be happy.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

What else does this book say about God? He is NOT mad at you! No, he loves you. Yes, I'm talking to you!

God is not a mean old man up in the sky with a great big fly swatter waiting to squash you. And you don't have to worry about scoring "brownie points" with him. All he wants is for you is to love him back.

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

In fact, God loves you so much that he did something very special for you. He sent his son, Jesus, to earth to help you live a successful life. And Jesus even died in your place so that you can live. All you have to do to receive this new life
of happiness is to accept what Jesus has done for you, like a gift.

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us…This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice [to die in our place] for our sins.

And after you have received this gift, free of charge, God is asking you to tell others about how wonderful it is, and to join in the fight against evil.

Receiving what God is offering you is called being "born again" or being "born of  God". It is an extreme change, doing a radical 180?  It's asking for God to forgive you of what you've done wrong. These are called sins. It's choosing real living
instead of being dead and lonely inside. It's not doing the things that God has said are wrong. It is being loving and kind, and ready to forgive others who might upset you. It is living life as a winner, yes YOU, and not a loser.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

Will you receive what God is offering you? New life, new hope, peace, and a reason for living. All you have to do is to believe in your heart that Jesus died in your place as punishment for the wrong you've done. Believe that God has raised Jesus from the dead, and that God is willing and able to forgive you. Then just speak out what you believe, something like this:

God, I'm glad you're not mad at me! I believe that Jesus died for me. Forgive me of the wrongs I have done and help me forgive those who have hurt me. Come into my heart and make me new inside. I want to join your team and live forever with you. Thank you Jesus for coming in to my heart!

OK! You've made the first step in a marvelous, exciting, and sometimes dangerous journey. What should you do next?

First, get yourself a copy of that marvelous book, the Bible. Then make time each day to read the Bible and talk to God about what's going on in your life. Ask him to help you understand what the Bible is saying. Don't worry if you don't understand it at first. Keep on reading, and God will make it clear to you.

Tell somebody about your decision to accept Jesus. We'd love to hear from you. We'd like to pray with you and help you grow! We'd like to hear all of the good things that God is doing for you.
